In a recent interview by Newsweek magazine with author and prophecy teacher, Hal Lindsey, this question was asked. Is the success and survival of the United States dependant upon its support of Israel? Hal Lindsey’s reply- I believe one of the reasons God has protected us despite the fact that we have driven God from the public forum in this country, is because we have sought to protect Israel’s right to secure her borders. We have also been a safe haven for Israelites. God gave the solemn covenant to Abraham that He would bring his descendants into a special nation, and He gave this specific promise in Gen. 12-3 that I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curse you I will curse. I believe God blesses those who bless Israel. The rise and fall of nations can be traced to how it treated the Jews. Zechariah 12: 2-3. Read. We are in a world wide war in terror. The two primary targets are Israel and the United States. The president of Iran is no longer mincing words. He says boldly, we will take out Israel and the United States. Iran’s minister of defense says that 29 specific targets in the United States have been selected along with the methods that will be used to strike them. Israel has focus and resolve. They have been fighting almost nonstop since 1948. The question must be asked, does the U.S. have any resolve? Are we in denial? Consider the following. 1. Most people still think there were no wmds in Iraq. 2. A Democratic Senator stated recently that the Iran threat is overrated. He believes they are 5 to 10 years away from having a nuclear weapon. 3. Because it has been almost 5 years since the twin towers were hit, we have become complacent. 4. Most Americans are now ready to pull out of Iraq. 5. There is an air of arrogance and pride in this nation that we are immune from judgement. Bible prophecy will be fulfilled. There are six major players in the final battle listed by the prophet Ezekiel. The leading nation is Russia. Little wonder they are always dragging their feet in censoring or correcting any Arab nation. The other nations are Persia(Iran), Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer(east Germany), and Togarmah( Southern Russia and Turkey). What about Syria? The prophet Isaiah says in Is. 17:1, that Damascus, the capital of Syria will cease to exist. This is clearly prophetic, as Damascus has been occupied, but never destroyed. Clearly, Syria and Iran are backing and controlling Hezbolla in it’s present conflict against Israel. Recently, Fox News interviewed a young man who had defected from Hezbolla, and he told an interesting story. Where is the United States in bible prophecy? There are different opinions. The United States is not directly named as are the other nations mentioned. Some teachers and scholars say that the terrible destruction in Rev. 18 speaks of false religion, some say it speaks of the destruction of America. Let’s look at it. I don’t think we have clear information about the future of the U.S. to be dogmatic. It is certainly possible that we could receive a nuclear strike and or an economic meltdown that render us no longer a super power. But one thing we can be sure of. Israel will emerge victorious, although taking heavy losses. Therefore our future is directly linked to Israel. Five sixths or 83% of Israel’s enemies will be destroyed. It will take 7 months to bury the dead. Part of this will be the supernatural hand of God. The deadliest earthquake on record happened sometime around 1500 in China, and claimed more than a million lives. In Rev. 16:18, the seventh angel pours out his bowl of judgement, and a great earthquake comes, such as has not been since man has been on earth. In addition, in Rev. 16:21, hailstones fall weighing 50 to 100 pounds. What should the church be doing? As the world grows worse, the church should shine! Prov.4: 18-But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day. Is. 60:1-3. Read. Mat. 28:18-20. Read. Mark 16:15-20. Read.
